Old Greenwich Polar Plunge and Run
Following on the heels of last year’s highly successful (and chilly!) event, the Old Greenwich Polar Bear Plunge is back, but with a twist – now participants can ring in the new year by running in a 5k race as well! The 5k is the only New Year’s Day race in lower Fairfield County.
The Old Greenwich Polar Bear Plunge and Run will take place at Tod’s Point in Old Greenwich on January 1, 2014. A fun family 5K run and walk through Todd's Point will take place at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Polar Plunge into the Sound at noon! All proceeds from the day will go to Kids in Crisis.
Admission to the 5k run/walk is $20; children 17 and under is $10. Admission to the Polar Plunge is free; a donation is kindly suggested. Click here to register.
The lead sponsor of the Old Greenwich Polar Bear Plunge and Run is Houlihan Lawrence of Greenwich. Other sponsors include Chillybear, Serendipity, Greenwich Patch, Old Greenwich Bagel Shop, and Beach House Café, which will offer special drinks for warming up after the event.
What better way to kick off the New Year? Join in the frozen fun on New Year’s Day!
