Youth Corps (for teens)

The Kids in Crisis Youth Corps is a group of high school volunteers from throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut, who are dedicated to furthering the Agency’s mission. Youth Corps members plan activities for our youngest residents (newborn – age 12); volunteer for special events; organize fundraisers, clothing, food and toy drives; raise awareness about Kids in Crisis, and much more!

The Youth Corps meets the first Thursday of every month* at the Depot in Darien from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Activities for our residents are typically on Saturday afternoons.

Kids in Crisis appreciates the ongoing support and generosity of The Depot teen center in Darien, which has been hosting our monthly Youth Corps meeting and activities since Youth Corps started more than 10 years ago!

*Please note that the Youth Corps does NOT meet in the summer months and occasionally reschedules meeting dates due to holidays and other school activities. If you will be attending a Youth Corps meeting for the first time, please email Kristen Tomasiewicz at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Kids Corps (for children Grades K-8 and their families)

The Kids in Crisis Kids Corps provides elementary and middle school students with a range of opportunities to volunteer – solo or with a group – to support abused and neglected children throughout the area. Working individually, with their family, or in groups with friends, students can become a part of Kids Corps by utilizing any of the following opportunities:

Be a Dinner Hero

Work as a team to make a complete dinner for our residents (13-16 people), including a protein, vegetable and a starch. There are all kinds of menu ideas that Kids in Crisis can provide for this great activity for a family, scout troop or school group.

Collect For Kids

Get together with friends, classmates, teammates, church group or neighbors to collect much-needed supplies for Kids in Crisis residents! Hold a duffle bag drive and collect donations to purchase large and extra large duffle bags. Or, conduct a drive to collect traditional packaged foods, toiletries, clothing, pajamas or other items Kids in Crisis needs at that particular time.

Kids Helping Kids

Instead of giving goody bags at your next birthday party or bar/bat mitzvah, give a donation to Kids in Crisis. For each $5 donation, you will receive a card for personalization to give to each guest at the party. During the party, give invitees the card in lieu of a goody bag to let them know about the donation. To order, click here.

Families and children interested in joining the Kids Corps effort should contact Kristen Tomasiewicz at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Plans can be put in place for a specific volunteering program focusing on current residents’ needs, after which a date for delivery can be arranged (no unscheduled donations, please).
