This summer was filled with fun, creativity, and meaningful experiences for the children at SafeHaven’s Farmhouse program. Our dedicated Youth Counselors developed and led a variety of engaging activities that encouraged learning, social connection, and personal growth. Residents explored photography, participated in Dungeons & Dragons adventures, visited local parks, enjoyed community swimming outings, went bowling, and even took a trip to the movies.
One of the season’s most memorable highlights was a special visit from “Johnny” the goat, who brought smiles, laughter, and excitement to the Farmhouse. We were also honored to welcome former NBA All-Star Allan Houston and his wife, who spent time with our residents and staff, creating a truly memorable day.
Throughout the summer, we celebrated themed spirit days that brought extra fun and creativity to our community. June featured Summer Hat Day, July showcased Black and White Attire Day, and August wrapped up with Wacky Opposite Clothing Day. Our staff also created new opportunities for outdoor play by building a rotating sprinkler in the yard and setting up a water play table for our younger residents, helping everyone stay active and cool during the warm summer months.
These experiences, made possible through the dedication of our staff and the support of our community, provided our children with opportunities to build confidence, create positive memories, and simply enjoy being kids. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this summer such a special one at the Farmhouse.
