In Norwalk, Kids In Crisis has been making huge strides in supporting youth, primarily through our TeenTalk programs. The Impact of TeenTalk in Norwalk Schools
In 2023, the TeenTalk programs in Norwalk experienced remarkable growth. These programs have been crucial in providing support and counseling to students at Brien McMahon High School and Norwalk High School. 56 students were supported at Brien McMahon High School, while 197 engaged at Norwalk High School, demonstrating the impact TeenTalk is having.
TeenTalk Counselors’ Vital Roles
TeenTalk counselors have played key roles in crisis intervention and leading community events, such as suicide prevention meetings and Pride in the Park. Their work focuses on student well-being and engages with the community to promote mental health awareness.
Partnerships and Expansion Efforts
This year also saw the formation of a partnership with the Triangle Community Center for the Norwalk Lighthouse program, focusing on supporting LGBTQ+ youth. There are also plans to expand the program further with dedicated funding, showing our commitment to inclusivity and support for all students.
Beyond Norwalk: Our Broader Impact
Kids In Crisis’ influence extends beyond Norwalk. The SafeHaven emergency shelter in Fairfield County is a sanctuary for distressed children, and the 24-hour Crisis HelpLine has been a lifeline to 670 individuals this year.
