Each office\u2019s Gives chapter is a springboard for\u00a0colleagues to work collectively and address their community\u2019s need.<\/p>\n<p>According to Carmen Ortiz, Administrative Business Partner at BlackRock and Lead of the\u00a0Greenwich Gives chapter, volunteering at Kids In Crisis is something that BlackRock employees\u00a0really enjoy. \u201cBy assisting children in need, we have the opportunity to make a lasting impact and we get to experience it firsthand through our individual interactions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BlackRock has been partnering with Kids In Crisis since 2019 and according to Carmen, longstanding partnerships with local non-profit organizations like Kids In Crisis are important to\u00a0the entire BlackRock community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe volunteer to help children and families in need because we have the capability and desire to make a difference in our community,\u201d said Carmen. \u201cWe don\u2019t see this partnership as an obligation. Instead, we view it as a privilege to use our resources to make a positive difference\u00a0in the lives of these children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Kids In Crisis is Important to Fairfield County Children<\/strong><br \/>\nKids In Crisis\u2019s mission is to build healthy communities where children and families thrive through prevention, counseling, and crisis services available 24 hours every day. Located in Cos\u00a0Cob, Connecticut, Kids In Crisis provides emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and community education programs for children of all ages and families facing crisis. Crisis can include domestic\u00a0violence, mental health concerns, homelessness, substance abuse, economic difficulties, and other critical challenges. The Kids In Crisis Helpline is staffed 24 hours a day with trained Crisis\u00a0Counselors and provides free, confidential phone and face-to-face intervention, counseling, and referrals. Since its founding in 1978, Kids In Crisis has provided vital 24-hour services to almost 170,000 children, teens, and their families.
