Holiday Ways to Help

There are many ways to help brighten the holidays for children and teens residing at Kids in Crisis during the holidays and for all of the families we serve in the community.

Sponsor a Family’s Holiday Wish List

Fulfill the wishes of a family in need by fulfilling their holiday wish list. We provide you with first names, ages, genders and holiday wishes for the family, after which you can shop and deliver the bundle of gifts to Kids in Crisis who will pass it along to the family. Wish lists typically include a winter coat, boots or shoes, pj’s and a special toy or gift

Sponsor a Child’s Holiday Wish List

Kids in Crisis provides holiday gifts for shelter residents and community families in need. Make some holiday wishes come true for one or more children by fulfilling their holiday wish list. We provide you with the first name, age, gender and holiday wishes for each child, after which you can shop and deliver the gifts to Kids in Crisis who will pass it along to the recipient. Wish lists typically include a winter coat, boots or shoes, pj’s and a special toy or gift.

Set up a Giving Tree for your office or community group

We provide a list of names, ages, and one holiday gift per child. You put the wishes on your tree then drop them off the new, unwrapped gifts at Holiday Central.

Other ways to help

Donate a gift card: A quick and easy way to spread some holiday cheer! (Visa/MC/Amex, Wal-mart, Old Navy, and CVS are great choices)

Sponsor an outing for shelter residents: Gift cards for Connecticut-based movie theaters, bowling, restaurants, and pottery studios are just some of many ideas.

Sponsor a Family’s Thanksgiving or “December Holiday” Dinner:

There are 2 ways to sponsor a family’s holiday dinner:
1) Include all the shelf-stable fixings plus a supermarket gift card (for a turkey, ham or pork; Shoprite, Acme or Whole Foods preferred). Items typically include stuffing mix, canned veggies, potatoes (in box or bag), gravy, and a dessert (cake or pie mix). For an extra treat, feel free to provide pancake mix and syrup, muffins, hot cocoa…whatever you’d like to include to make the day even more special! Package everything up in a durable shopping bag, a basket or even a plastic laundry basket.
2) Donate a supermarket gift card for an entire holiday meal
