Holiday Wish List

Each year, Kids in Crisis provides holiday meals, clothing and gifts for hundreds of shelter residents and community families in need. If you would like to help spread some holiday cheer this season, please review the list below to find the perfect way for you to help!

Donate Holiday Dinner for our Shelter Residents

At any one time, Kids in Crisis is home to up to 20 children and teens. Help brighten the holidays for our shelter residents buy donating a holiday meal! Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Easter, or even Super Bowl Sunday for example! Holiday dinner donors can have a prepared meal delivered or simply donate a gift card to allow our staff to shop for all the kids' favorites.

Sponsor a Family’s Thanksgiving or “December Holiday” Dinner

Kids in Crisis provides holiday food baskets to many families we work with in the community. If you would like to help:

  • Gather shelf-stable (non-perishable) holiday fixings AND a supermarket gift card ($15 - $25) for a turkey or ham. Package the items in a decorative basket or laundry basket and you’re done! (Suggested shelf stable items include: stuffing mix, canned gravy and vegetables, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, potatoes, a pie or other dessert, apple juice....if you want to get super fancy, consider adding pancake mix, syrup and cocoa or other special additions!)

  • Want to help but don’t have time to shop? Donate a supermarket gift card for the entire meal and let the family purchase their own favorites!

Sponsor a Child or Family’s Holiday Wish List

Help brighten the holidays for one or more children by helping to fulfill their holiday wish list. We provide you with the first name, age, gender and holiday wishes for a child, after which you can shop and deliver the gifts to Kids in Crisis by Friday, December 11 who will pass it along to the recipient. Each child’s holiday list typically includes – winter coat, boots or shoes, PJ’s, socks, and underwear and a “special” toy or gift. Note:  donors can shop for a child, family or even individual items!

Other Ways to Help

  • Set up a Giving Tree for your school, office or community group – we provide a list of names, ages and one holiday gift per child. Put the wishes on your tree, collect them, then drop off the new, unwrapped gifts at Kids in Crisis by Friday, December 11

  • Donate a gift card – a quick and easy option that allow the kiddos to shop for something special! (Wal-mart, Target, Old Navy, Aeropostale, Forever 21, iTunes, and CVS are great choices)

  • Sponsor an outing for shelter residents – Gift cards for Connecticut-based movie theaters, bowling, and restaurants, are just some of many ideas.

  • Host a general collection – of new clothing, toys, or other holiday needs.
