Why I Give

Rich and Jill Granoff have been strong supporters of the Agency for the past decade.  Insight recently asked them to share their experiences and explain why they support the work of Kids in Crisis.

How did you first come to know Kids in Crisis?
We were invited to the annual benefit, Hoedown, ten years ago, an event we’ve attended annually since then (It’s still one of the best local charity events).  This exposed us to the work of Kids in Crisis and to the dedicated people involved.  We were also amazed at the pressing need for services in our community.

What motivates you to give?  Why do you keep giving?
We are very fortunate for the lives that we have and believe very strongly that it is important to give back.  We do this in many different ways.  We are both involved at the Board level in many organizations and support these organizations financially.  We continue to give back because there is a strong need, both locally, regionally and nationally.

Why is it important to continue supporting Kids in Crisis?
Kids in Crisis provides a vital local community service.  As parents of two teenagers, we understand the challenges kids face in our society.  To continue to meet these challenges, Kids in Crisis will need to grow physically and financially).  As it does, the Agency can expect us to continue to increase our level of involvement so we can help the organization continue to make a difference

What do you wish Kids in Crisis did differently for its donors?
We think Kids in Crisis must continue to make sure donors are more aware of all the Agency does.  Profiling individual cases, sharing stories and photos and sharing successes should help attract and keep donors.

Are there any special moments or memories you have from your connection to Kids in Crisis?
Receiving a tour of the facilities was really an eye-opener for me.  We were extremely impressed with the buildings and how comfortable the living quarters were for the kids.  I met a few children, each of whom seemed very happy being there.  We also got to meet a few of the staff members of Kids in Crisis, who were all dedicated professionals that loved what they were doing.  We encourage all donors to take this tour, as it really hits home as to the relevance of Kids in Crisis in our community.

Why is it important to you to leave a legacy to the Agency? We feel that the work of Kids in Crisis is a vital resource for our community. After all, what is more important than our kids?  If we all help, Kids in Crisis can thrive in the future, assuring that all local kids are cared for in times of crisis.
